When we were losing hope, finally a new project is in the works. I did a little research and it seems like a legitimate project and not a rumor. Ilaria Zamprioli should be the makeup artist and I found some photos of JC related to the studio that produces the film (Angry Troll Studio) "Storyline Set in the housing projects of New Jersey. A young man that has only known poverty and abuse his whole life; suffers a mental breakdown and goes on a killing spree like no other in history. When his rage can't be controlled the legend; known as, Johnny Jones, is born. This film puts the first African American slasher into the iconic status known by Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. Written by Matthew "Ghost" Clark and produced by Angry Troll Studio. This film is destined to be a horror classic. Written by Richard Clark" What to say, it looks like a very interesting project, it's a horror film where JC will play a detective, so I don't think there will be martial arts but there should be a lot of action. The cast is also interesting as Kevin Sorbo and Tom Arnold will also play. I wonder what kind of release it will have, as horror films are the only low budget films that are still released in cinemas. www.imdb.com/title/tt10928904/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1

Tom Arnold in it. Now I found that funny. Massimiliano (Max) Cerchi is an award-winning film director and producer. Born In Italy. Maybe this movie will be good after all.

I guess it's a "buddy cop movie" with horror elements. Two detectives (JC and Sorbo) against Robert Crayton who plays the sociopathic killer Johnny Jones, honestly I don't know him, from the photos he seems a massive man, scary enough for the required role.

I read a bit of disappointment around this project in the spaces dedicated to JCVD but as I explained in the Newprojects/rumour thread most of the DTV action films are getting Scott Adkins as the lead. So JC is trying to make its way into other genres such as horror. Scott has been pushing for years and is now getting the fame and offers he deserves, I'm sure JC is happy for him.

To be clearer I give you some numbers. The last American action film shot by JCVD was "We Die Young" and it was October 2017. Do you know how many action films Adkins has released or are in post-production since that date? This! 13 films and 3 new films are in pre-production. We are experiencing what happened in the late 1980s when we went from Chuck Norris films to Van Damme films. That's why we shouldn't be disappointed if JC tries something different, better than waiting forever.

I remember JCVD was supposed to be in a horror movie a few years ago about a female soccer team (or some other team sport) who ended up having car trouble in the middle of nowhere or something. That didn't happen, I very much doubt this will.
I'm sorry but this looks badly photo shopped:

It was "Girls with Balls", it happened but without JC. Now they have added Michael Paré to the cast of this new film and honestly this project seems to have a cast too rich for a small studio, unless it's a cameo collection I think someone will drops out.

When do you think The Legend of Johnny Jones will start filming? Maybe sometime in July of this year. I wouldn't be surprised if it was cancelled. The project was at an early stage with some actors attached but I don't think they have already rented the locations and crew, so it would make much more sense to cancel the project using contract terms than putting the project in a delayed status without knowing when to start. Dolph and Adkins delayed "Castle Falls", they had been filming for a few days, then they had to stop and in that case it's more difficult to cancel the production.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Hunts a Serial Killer in ‘The Legend of Johnny Jones’.
One of the craziest titles launching at the forthcoming Cannes market is High Octane Pictures’ The Legend of Johnny Jones, a horror film that stars the great Jean-Claude Van Damme (Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Universal Soldier, Timecop, Cyborg) as a detective hunting down a serial killer, played by Robert Crayton (Ant-Man, “Ballers”), Bloody Disgusting learned.
The film is to be directed by Massimiliano Cerchi (The Night Shift, Insane, Lockdown) and feature the likes of Danny Trejo (Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Grindhouse, Predators, Machete, Machete Kills), Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules”), Michael Paré (Streets of Fire, Village of the Damned, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich), Costas Mandylor (Saw III-Saw VII), Tom Arnold (True Lies), and Clifton Powell (Deep Rising), among others.
That was online 2 days ago.
