Jean-Claude Van Damme Signs up to Star in ‘The Pharaoh’s Campaign’
by Jack Beresford · January 15, 2019
Jean-Claude Van Damme has signed on to star in an action movie with a difference.
According to Masrawy [via Cairo Scene], the veteran action movie legend has put pen to paper on a contract with El Sobki Productions to appear in Amr Saad’s upcoming movie, Hamlet Fer’oun or The Pharaoh’s Campaign.
Filming is set to begin in Beirut, Lebanon, this December, with Van Damme expected to arrive in Cairo in three months’ time to shoot his scenes.
It’s the second time a major action movie star has appeared in an El Sobky production, following on from Scott Adkins, who is due to star in the upcoming Ghada Abdel-Razek movie.
Van Damme’s role in the new film has not been revealed as yet but the official synopsis suggests this could be essential viewing for action movie fans.
It centres on an Egyptian hit man who finds his lover captured by terrorists in Syria. He soon forced to travel to the war-torn country in order to free her.
It’s nearly eight years since Van Damme last visited Egypt, with his previous visit coming back in October 2011, when he vacationed in the North African country as part of his 51st birthday celebrations. We’ll keep you updated as this new JCVD project develops!

He's expected to land in Cairo in three months for the El Sobki-produced film.
'90s kids are going to live for this; Jean-Claude Van Damme has officially signed a contract with El Sobki Productions to appear in Amr Saad's upcoming movie, Hamlet Fer'oun (The Pharaoh's Campaign), as reported by Masrawy.
The film began shooting in December in Beirut, Lebanon, with the Belgian actor and martial artist set to land in Cairo in three months time to shoot his scenes. This will mark the second time an international celebrity has appeared for El Sobky, following last year's announcement that Scott Adkins is to star in the upcoming Ghada Abdel-Razek movie.
The plot of the action film revolves around an Egyptian hit man whose lover is captured by terrorists in Syria, forcing him to travel to the war-torn country in order to free her. It's yet to be announced what Van Damme's role will be.
Van Damme previously visited Egypt in October 2011 to celebrate his 51st birthday.

Fake news or cameo, either way we are not going to see anything, unless someone upload JC's scenes on youtube like happened with the Russian and Chinese cameo.

I agree, we should not expect anything of it. JCVD has many other interesting projects we can look forward to anyway.

Tyson helps visibility of the project but I still think that there are few chances that this production will ever be released outside the Arab world.

Van Damme will arrive in Egypt on April 10 to shoot his scenes. That a lie because in 3 days he will shoot his scenes. It look like he will not film this movie. There no news on this movie and 3 days he will shoot his scenes. Maybe April 10 to shoot his scenes. That April 10 2020. They didn't put 2019.
