In het zuiden van het land vinden op dit moment opnames plaats van 'The Bouncer', een gloednieuwe actiefilm van Jean-Claude Van Damme (57). Niet toevallig opteerde JCVD om de prent in zijn thuisland te schieten. "Omdat we een dagje ouder worden, wil hij zo dicht mogelijk bij zijn ouders zijn. Elke dag facetimen we. Hij is nijg aan ons." "Kijk, het bed ligt vol met toegestuurde brieven, foto's en posters voor Jean-Claude", vertelt mama Eliana Van Impe tijdens een korte rondleiding in hun zeer ruim appartement nabij de Lippenslaan in Knokke. "Alle fanmail van over de hele wereld komt toe in een speciale brievenbus in Knokke-Heist. Wekelijks krijgen we zo'n 200 pakketjes. Als Jean-Claude straks komt slapen, zal hij die eerst signeren voor zijn fans. Dan stuur ik die terug. De laatste maanden vragen we aan de fans wel om postzegels mee te sturen. Foto's terugsturen naar Rusland, posters in kokers verzenden... Soms moest ik in het postkantoor meer dan 300 euro aan zegels aankopen. Dit zijn wel de laatste die ik behandel. Ik ben er 84 en zal het nu wat rustiger aan doen. Tot voor enkele weken was ik tot middernacht bezig, omdat ik ook nog de manager van de sociale media van Jean-Claude was. Tot voor enkele jaren zorgde mijn man voor de boekhouding, maar we zijn op een ouderdom gekomen dat we het een beetje rustiger willen hebben."
