Hopefully JCVD finishes THE BOUNCER these days, so he is free for ARMAGEDDON. I really want him so bad in the movie I think there are 50% chances to see a supporting role of JC and 50% chances to not see JC at all. JC might not like the rumor about Durand being killed in the first scenes.

Kickboxer Retaliation - 10/10 (Italian Blu-ray)
Masterpiece. As great as Kickboxer Vengeance. Curiously the Italian release date coincides with my mamma birthday so I watched it with her, I usually prefer to watch martial arts films alone but this time no.
The film is a pure martial arts film! it's a little longer than the previous one so they filmed more acting scenes this time, Alain showed an improvment in acting. The formula is the same as Vengeance, fight scenes, mentor scenes and a long great final fight. Kurt has two mentors, JC and Mike Tyson, there is even a short fighting approach between JC and Mike but nothing memorable. This time the mentor fight scene with Alain went to Tyson and it was awesome! great iron fists from him.
JC doesn't show up until 30 minutes in but I liked a lot his role and lines, he fought a little but it was more style than substance. I don't know if Christopher Lambert's role was meant like this but I found him funny in his lines, a funny villain boss, also the short blade fight scene with JC was a clear homage to Highlander, There were several homages to many films. I admit that I had some doubts about Björnsson playing as Mongkut, I thought he was too big and slow but at the end he was as good as Batista, a beast!!! (My mamma said some times "this guy is not human!" haha) I really love long final fights and this one was amazing!!! Alain fought like a real fighter, kicks, punches, jumps! Alain has a real potential to become a martial arts star!!!
I really have not big complaints, maybe a one more fight for Mongkut and a different intro but really little things like the ugly cover of the blu-ray. The music was cool! they added some western music during fights. Overall a great film, well directed and filmed. I really hope JC will be there for the great finale! JC must be proud of these martial arts films, part 3 must be memorable and JC must be there to support Kurt again!
Thank You JC! Thank You Alain! Let's make Kickboxer Armageddon!!! and this franchise will be legend!!!

I watched this movie for the first time last night. It took me this long to finally watch it, because I watched some scenes online and did not like what I saw.
It looks like the story serves the fights instead of the other way around. It's obvious that they wanted to give everybody a chance to shine, which results in numerous unnecessary fights. The opening scene is a good example.
The movie almost seems like a spoof on other movies. Kurt has the same skill as Sherlock Holmes played by Robert Downey Jr, which I don't like for either characters.
Spoiler alert:
The cons: -Mongkut is a genetically manipulated human who gets injections. The first time you see him get injected, it looks cartoonishly fake. This whole concept is ridiculous, especially when this movie is supposed to have a martial arts setting.
-Kurt gets killed, but comes back from the dead.
- Master Durand is as blind as a bat, but has excellent fighting skills even with a sword. He needs to be guided on the street when they go to an illegal fight, but after that he is left alone on the street after having kicked some butt. How does he make it home?
The pros: -Master Durand is the highlight of the movie. -Mike Tyson
I was surprised that Nicholas has a decent about of screen-time. His dad did a good job arranging that for him. I assume this was his first role, a speaking one nonetheless, he did a good job. I like that his character has limited skills, with a father like Durant you would expect him to have better skills, but I like that he doesn't.
Rating: 5.5/10
