I re-watched this episode, very good drama in this but still don't get a thing, was that "race car challenge" supposed to be comedy ? the whole episode was kind of serious, some funny lines but that race was strange in my opinion, it started like Fast and Furious with Michael Malarkey challenging JC but then all finished very quickly and not in a funny way. It was meant to be like that or was just not that good filmed ? Maybe I didn't get the comedy about the "blind driving" I don't know.

I think it was meant like that, like a F&F: Tokyo Drift spoof.

Just watched the second episode for the first time. The race was totally different from what I expected after watching the trailer. Oh, that 'eye' was gross. This episode is a bit dark actually.

Second watch review (spoilers!!):
Episode 2 (6/10): I didn't like this episode much. At the end of the pilot JC felt like he wasn't ready for the job. He said to Jane on the phone: "I should have never come back", but here we see him on the set again and we only see an angry Vanessa because Johnson screwed up. No word about him feeling like he can't do the job until he screws up once again (street race). It seems like they just forgot he was feeling depressed at the end of the pilot.
Good: -The crappy car and the way JC gets out of the car. -The 'hypnotic' stare of Luis. -The vibe of the street race. Bad:-The driving blindfolded part. I don't like that ridiculousness. -The explosion, I don't know why the guy stayed in his car for so long and then it explodes without a spark. Why did this guy needed to be killed and why did his partner commit suicide? Is that supposed to be funny or help the story? -The man who kills someone when Vanessa is under the car, is that supposed to be Brown? We don't get to know who he is. -The weather control device to take over the world. Seems like a ridiculous James Bond plot (old school James Bond).
