I don't like to read reviews with spoilers so I only read the end judgment.
It also maintains the heart suggested in the premiere, and the very premise’s assumption that fans still care about JCVD’s well being. He’s still longing for Vanessa and for his own glory days, but responsible for his own screw-ups.
In the movies, Van Damme may have missed his true calling as a ham. He got to exploit his broader performance tendencies as the villain in Expendables 2 and a few straight to video movies, but one wonders, if Hollywood hadn’t taken him so seriously, would movie audiences have bought into the self-deprecating Van Damme more? At least with Jean-Claude Van Johnson, he’ll be eligible for an Emmy, so that’s one step closer to EGOT.

Wait, what? What's this about the time travel stuff? LOL During the Q&A, Van Damme himself promised time travel in the first season.

The pilot had a Timecop joke, so it's possible there's other related to it, remember that Timecop is the most praised JCVD film by audience and critics, the director knows it and I'm sure it will have even other references to JCVD films, the pilot had lots.

Translation: We've already seen the first two episodes of Jean-Claude Van Johnson and it is very funny. Premieres December 15 on Amazon Prime Video.
