The Gratuitous B-Movie Column: Pound of Flesh June 21, 2017 | Posted by Bryan Kristopowitz Rating: 7.5/10.0 Pound of Flesh is not the action movie you think it’s going to be. It isn’t a non-stop brawl and shootout. It’s really a kind of somber drama with a heavy dose of action in it. I liked it, but, again, if you’re going in thinking it’s going to be 104 minutes of ass kicking, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re interested in seeing something a bit different from a modern action star, though, give Pound of Flesh a shot. It’s not a classic, but it is good and watchable.Read more here: 411mania.com/movies/the-gratuitous-b-movie-column-pound-of-flesh/

zacksfilmthoughts.blogspot.nl/2017/07/jcvd-thon-pound-of-flesh-2015.htmlFriday, July 21, 2017 JCVD-A-THON: Pound of Flesh (2015) “Pound of Flesh” was released among much hype, at least within the world of gritty, indie action flicks. I guess the punchy log line of “Jean-Claude Van Damme Wants His Kidney Back!” was irresistible. The actual film doesn't live up to that fun exploitation premise, as the end result is actually rather dour. However, there are some stand-out fight scenes and Van Damme gives a fine performance. However, “Pound of Flesh” is a mostly forgettable, fairly cheap direct-to-video action flick. Hopefully, Ernie Barbarash and Jean-Claude's next collaboration is a little better. [5/10]
