Kill 'em All Blu-ray Review
Damme'd if you do. And they did. Reviewed by Martin Liebman, June 9, 2017
Kill 'em All is a throwaway movie. It's technically overdone, narratively vacuous, and depends on the worst case combination of bad style trying to overcome no substance. Van Damme fans with a high tolerance for bad moviemaking (and they should have built up an immunity at this point) might find the movie enjoyable enough, but for anyone else, this is a big, fat skip. Sony's featureless Blu-ray does at least offer capable video and audio. www.blu-ray.com/movies/Kill-em-All-Blu-ray/176728/#Review

Jean-Claude Van Damme has cranked-out so many cheap, budget-bin fight-fests since his heyday that I can't imagine Kill 'Em All appealing to anyone but his staunchest fans. It's just another generic, derivative and depressing hodge-podge of ideas ripped-off from better films. I'm sure Van Damme appreciates the paycheck, but he needs to go back to hanging out with a better crowd before he ends up on Dancing with the Stars or an A&E reality show.

BLU-RAY REVIEW: KILL ‘EM ALL (2017) www.alienbee.net/blu-ray-review-kill-em-all/Sunday, June 11th, 2017 (2.5 out of 5 stars) Bottom line is, Kill ‘Em All was an okay Van Damme action movie but unfortunately it wasn’t anything special. It was nice to see him working with Peter Malota who served as the fight choreographer on the action classics Double Impact and Universal Soldier. This was also the directorial debut for Malota. It was also pretty neat to see JCVD square off against Daniel Bernhardt who picked up the torch in three of the Bloodsport sequels. So yeah, the movie has some action scenes where JCVD has to go up against the bad guys and he’s still got it after all these years. He looked a little tired but he’s still able to kick some ass. As far as the story goes, it was kind of interesting and it did come with a few twists – maybe one too many. The international cast was really good plus I’ll pretty much watch anything that Peter Stormare is in. Peter Stormare and María Conchita Alonso were one of the highlights of this movie. Kill ‘Em All is now available on Blu-ray and if you’re a Van Damme fan or into martial arts movies, then give it a shot.

Kill ‘Em All – Blu-ray Review www.redvdit.net/kill-em-all/by Doug • Published June 13, 2017 Final Thoughts: As you can see after reading the review above, I wasn’t too terribly pleased with Kill ’em All or the experience that it gave. The story wasn’t anything to exclaim about; the video and audio presentation was right on par with the story that we’re being offered and shouldn’t be considered anything worthwhile. The overall color palette for this film was on par with the film with a few aspects that really popped; and those particular parts were considerably limited. The packaging is exactly what you would expect with a DTV release like this, and there is absolutely no additional content whatsoever.
Truthfully, I wouldn’t really recommend picking this film up unless it was on sale for $5.00 or less, however I know there are some die hard Van Damme fans out there that will be giving this film a chance; so at least proceed with caution with this release because it was rather bland at best.

letterboxd.com/darkreif/film/killem-all/Review by Matt Reifschneider Pro Kill’em All 2017 ★★ Watched Jun 14, 2017 Matt Reifschneider’s review published on Letterboxd : The JCVD train just keeps rolling and to hell with quality. Although at its core, Kill'em All is a fantastic low budget film. It has some great character actors involved (bonus points for Stormare and Bernhardt) and the idea of a twisted narrative on a nurse's account of a strange and brutal shootout in a hospital is ripe for great spins and style. Too bad the execution of this film is pretty dire. The editing is atrocious, the fights lackluster (well, until the Van Damme/Bernhardt one at the end and even that is a bit lacking), and the narrative that could have been so cool is a blurred and muddy shit show. The performances are all underwhelming too as the narrative and shoddy construction of structure does them no favors. At times its unintentionally funny, so it has that going for it, but even then it's a stretch. This is the perfect example of a film that should have used the "less is more" approach to film making and kept things simple. It thinks it is much smarter than it is and that kind of angle just seems arrogant considering the quality of film that came out of it.============================= Kill ’em All (Blu-ray) Posted in: Disc Reviews by Brent Lorentson on June 16th, 2017 Final Thoughts Despite having Van Damme and Stormare, this film is lacking the punch I would have hoped for, despite this being a direct-to-DVD release. Action fans, I know it’ll be hard to resist a new film by JCVD, but go in with some lowered expectations. I’m not ready to see Van Damme hang up the action films. I just think it’s time we see him adapt better to his age and ability. Seeing a more subtle yet badass Van Damme can be a great thing. He still is a presence on screen to appreciate; right now he just needs to find the projects that suit him better. Read more upcomingdiscs.com/2017/06/16/kill-em-all-blu-ray-2/

irishfilmcritic.com/blu-ray-review-kill-em-all-is-dead-on-arrival/ Blu-ray Review: “Kill ‘Em All” Is Dead On Arrival (1.5/5 stars) by James McDonal June 18, 2017 “With a title like 'Kill 'Em All,' people do not sit down to watch Van Damme act, they want to see him kick ass, and plenty of it.”
It’s hard to recommend a movie based on one aspect alone and thinking back over the story, I find it almost impossible to applaud any element of the film because as a whole, which is what it should be, it does not come together, it falls apart and occasionally, when it appears that it might reassemble into some sort of cohesive structure, it crumbles back down to the very foundation it came from. Van Damme will be around for a long time to come so if you want to watch a really good movie of his, watch “Double Impact,” for an added layer of good ol’ ’90s cheese, then wash it down with a giant helping of “Universal Soldier,” followed by delicious dessert with “Hard Target.”

www.hollywoodmatrimony.com/kill-em-all-reviewKill ‘Em All review by Bobby Blakey For hardcore fans of Van Damme like me this is a decent actioner with plenty of fights that is better than a lot of the films in his straight to rental market, but still not back to the quality of his earlier films. Either way I remain a hardcore fan and look forward to whatever he has to offer in the future and will likely check this one out again strictly for my love of seeing some Van Damage.

My review of the movie:
I want to start by saying that I took your advice and read the intro about the war and skipped the 3-4 minutes of movie flashes and I'm glad I did, so thank you.
This isn't an action movie, it is a thriller. The story is good and it keeps you guessing what's going on. The movie looks nice and the actors did a very good job (except for the kid in the separation scene). It has some flaws but definitely a good movie. 7/10.
Don't read this if you haven't seen the movie, this next part has spoilers:
The movie starts with the interrogation of Suzanne. Agent Mark Holman (Peter Stormare) is annoying as hell and I wanted to strangle him for constantly interrupting Suzanne. Agent Linda Sanders (Alonso) seemed to be one card cards short of a full deck at times.
JCVD looked like he was actually hit on the head. He did a very good job except for once, when he seemed to rise like the Terminator would. That made me laugh.
Autumn Reeser is the center of the movie, but we don't find out much about her, maybe we get to see more in the sequel.
I noticed some JCVD stunt doubles while he was fighting but that doesn't bother me much, I did find it strange that they used a body double when they branded 'his' body. I guess it was cheaper to use the body double. They could have left that part out, it wasn't necessary to put it in the movie anyway.
Things I didn't like: -JCVD looks like he's dying, red eyes and all; -The bad acting of the kid when he gets separated from his mother; -The blonde wig that is supposed to be real hair looked very fake; -We don't get to see how JCVD, Suzanna and Mark met; -I think the introductions to the team where you get to see everyone's specialty could have been left out; -The information about the war seemed like a history lesson, too much info at times.

Yeah, it's definitelly not some full blown action movie that it was marketed as. More like a thriller with twists. I really actually hope for a sequel!

So I'm not the only one thinking that Autumn Reeser was the real lead of this film. I guess that if you're not obsessed with fight scenes like me then the film can reach more than a 6/10 rating.

Nice review Claudia. It has me looking at the movie in a better prospective. I totally agree with the boy the way he acts and defo to much of a history lesson at the beginning. All in all better to look at it as more of a thriller with twists than an actioner. The thing Wat I didn't like most and it's been a problem with his movies for a few years is that his charisma charm energy and intensity don't seem to shine anymore, I know it's probably due to the fact of maybe playing different roles and different characters. But I love how intense he is in wake of death for example. I just hope his future roles are not just of him being injured all the time as we know somewhere in there jc has it all (martial arts wise). I like where kill em all is going, and trying to do and has so much potential in the sequel for being great. I didn't like kill em all as much as some people but that defo doesn't mean I'm not a fan. Jcvd movie intro scene where he's killing all the soldiers is one of my favourites scenes in any movie at all. Thanks nice review Claudia

[..] Jcvd movie intro scene where he's killing all the soldiers is one of my favourites scenes in any movie at all. What makes the Jean-Claude Van Johnson project so great is that he can act in it, do comedy (something he always wanted to do) and the fans still get their Van Dammage fix. I think Black Water is going to be fun too.

Completely agree! I'm so looking forward to black water and especially jcvj. I'm sure he will bring his spark back to the screen and hopefully have a bright future after the much anticipated series. Trailer of black water gets better every time I see it, but let's not forget kill em all could b a classic in time, I'm wanting to watch it for my third time round.
