Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris training together

Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme are two of the biggest names in martial arts cinema and probably two of the most legitimate guys in that world. Both are legitimate and well respected martial artists who competed as young men before getting into the movies.
Both men come from karate backgrounds and are excellent representatives of that art. Norris also has a lot of experience in other martial arts though too. He holds a black belt in BJJ from the legendary Machado family as well as several other black belts in judo, Taekwondo and a martial art he founded himself called ‘Chun kuk do.’
Jean-Claude on the other hand is much more striking-centered in his training background, preferring to train in Taekwondo, Muay Thai and kickboxing in addition to his original martial art of Shotokan karate.
What separates these two from other martial arts movie stars is that they were actually competitive martial artists. They both have legitimate competitive karate bouts to their name well before they got into the film business.
In the following video, we see some very cool footage of these two martial arts titans training together for a German TV program in 1984.
In the footage, we see Jean-Claude holding pads while Chuck demonstrates some pretty brutal kick techniques and combinations. This wasn’t a one time thing either as the pair were well-known to be training partners at the time. Plus, Norris apparently even helped Jean-Claude first get his start in the industry and even got him a job shortly after he first came to America.
