Directorial debut of JCVD, the film was highly praised for its great visual locations and adventure feel, Roger Moore is memorable here. The fight scenes, except the final fight, are short but well made, JC focused the action on showing different styles more than make the audience feel the hit.
This was the first JCVD film that I watched at the cinema. :-)

REVIEW | The Quest (1996) 9 Nov 2017 CHEESE: 9 ACTING: 7 EXCESS: 6 INEPTITUDE: 5 WHAT?: 6 7/10 Two years after Seagal jumped the shark with On Dangerous Ground, Jean-Claude Van Damme was still riding high on the second tier action star wave. Then he went full Breen by writing, directing and starring in a movie that Roger Moore considered the worst he ever appeared in. That's the Roger Moore who was in Spice World. And Bullseye. And Fire, Ice & Dynamite...Read more here: www.badmoviebible.com/single-post/2017/11/09/REVIEW-The-Quest-1996

Van Damme Directs: The Quest (1996, directed by Jean-Claude Van Damme) Posted on August 29, 2018 by Jedadiah Leland The Quest was unique because it was Van Damme’s debut as a director. Unlike a lot of actors-turned-director, Van Damme mostly resists the temptation to get too self-indulgent. There is one scene where Van Damme wears old age makeup and another where he wanders through the slums of New York while dressed as a clown but Van Damme is smart enough to leave most of the heavy acting to capable professionals like Roger Moore and James Remar. While Moore and Remar ham it up and keep things entertaining, Van Damme concentrates on fighting and trying to return to the orphans. The fight scenes are sometimes too short but at least Van Damme makes a point of showcasing each competitor’s different style. There aren’t many films that include both sumo wrestling and capoeira.
The Quest is basically Bloodsport in the 1920s but, as they used to say in the 90s, it’s still damme entertaining.Read full review here: unobtainium13.com/2018/08/29/van-damme-directs-the-quest-1996-directed-by-jean-claude-van-damme/

I also have it only on DVD but I hope to have the blu-ray version very soon, it should get a Limited Edition blu-ray via CG Entertainment similar to the one released for "Timecop", fingers crossed.

Awesome new special limited edition of "The Quest" from Spain with a great looking slipcase and 8 postcards. I just bought my copy via Amazon Italy for only 14 euros, a real bargain!
