After the recent box office disaster of "The Expendables 4" it seems that Hollywood and the general public have finally realized that the era of old action stars is over. Nobody watches or expects anything from them anymore and the names they have been pushing recently, like Statham, Uwais, 50 Cents etc are of no interest to anyone. I started this thread as a container for all the news related to new action projects with under 50 actors. It's going to take up some of my time but I think it's going to be fun. The franchise that has pushed the most for new actors is definitely the Karate Kid universe. The Cobra Kai series was an extraordinary success with audiences and critics, helping to popularize martial arts to a young audience. The series is going to end with the sixth season and was primarily focused on William Zabka and Ralph Macchio but a good job was done with young actors with a decent level of martial arts, specifically Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan and Jacob Bertrand, we will see if they intend to continue in this genre or if they too will be absorbed into the group of generic actors. Other recent news is the sequel to "The Karate Kid" of 2010, Jackie Chan should return but there is still no news on who will be the young protagonist of the film, I will follow this project very carefully. maxblizz.com/jackie-chan-is-set-to-reprise-his-role-in-new-karate-kid-movie/ |

Oh no, Statham is definitely a big draw, and I really was shocked that he was OK to board EX4.
Overall I think the general audience were cut off a few years ago.
P.S: I Love the COBRA KAI show, still haven't seen the last season.
