I'm a big fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and it just seemed natural to me to want to spread the love for the Belgian action star by making a retrospective video. I actually ended up splitting the retrospective into 4 different videos, seperated by decade. This is the 1st video which speaks about Van Damme and his rise to fame in the 80s, enjoy!
What's your favorite Van Damme movie, or Van Damme moment?

Thank you for sharing your video. That's a great video you made, very interesting to watch. It's a bit fast though, if someone doesn't know JCVD it's probably an overload of info. It's also too fast for people who are not good at English. Other than that, great job, I enjoyed it very much! PS I'm not a fan of sequels either.

I am too young to remember the 80s of JCVD but I know practically everything that happened, that decade has the best Van Damme film of all time, "Bloodsport", which is also my favorite film. I will always be grateful to Cannon for giving JC a chance. In my mind Van Damme's career began in the 90s, it was 1993 and I was 7 years old when my father took me to a video rental and asked me to choose a film that was not animation, I chose the vhs cover of "Bloodsport", I loved it! my life as a JCVD fan started that day.

Thanks for the feedback! I also discovered JCVD in the early 90s and little by little discovered all the 80s Van Damme goodness. His true rise to Hollywood fame was definitely in the 90s with huge movie budgets and all. The 80s had it's charm though. Apparently he only got paid 25k to do Bloodsport, then 50k for Cyborg and finally 75k for Kickboxer. I believe that this was part of the initial 3 picture contract he had signed with Cannon pictures. Once the 90s hit, that's when he was able to spread his wings and make it big in Hollywood.
Anyways, thanks guys for having watched the video. Part 2 is going to come out next week!
