Universal Soldier Regeneration and Day of Reckoning are on Prime. Gonna watch both this weekend, can't remember them really. Been a while since I have watched them.
I think they make it as if Universal Soldier the Return never existed correct?

I think they make it as if Universal Soldier the Return never existed correct? Exactly but also "Day of Reckoning" has little in common with "Regeneration", all 4 "Universal soldiers" films are basically "standalone" films, you don't need to watch them in order.

Thanks for the clarification.

Regeneration was fantastic I though. Very dark kind of feel but good. Haven’t watched day of reckoning yet
Looks like he is a bad guy in this one.

So it seems Regeneration kind of takes place after Universal 1. It’s as if the return didn’t happen. I am going to watch Day of Reckoning today as I am off today.

If it’s not too confusing Regeneration definitely acts as the return didn’t happen but I guess acts as if the ending of universal 1 didn’t happen as Andrew Scott went through a wood chipper….. he dies painfully once again in Regeneration lmao Will watch Day of Reckoning in the next few minutes here.

Im a good 50 mins in and still don’t understand JCVD Role hahah. Somehow Luc Deveraux is a bad guy now…. Or a clone of him anyway…. Some good action sequences but the random over kill of nudity, and near seizure type scenes when they see Van Damme and it’s blinks super fast makes this not near as enjoyable as Regeneration in my opinion but I still have over an hour to go. Maybe it will get better.

Just finished Day of Reckoning.
I’m disappointed to tell you the truth but I think it’s mainly because I enjoyed Regeneration so much, that watching them back to back made this one just seem silly and a bit of a confused mess. I think if this was not called Universal Soldier and was it’s own movie, it would have been more enjoyable but over all it just felt silly to put this in the Universal Soldier franchise
Regeneration is nearly a close of number one with a few twists. But the main plot is the terrorists wanting the Americans to free their Conrad’s. They have two super soldiers and one is Andrew Scott who (just like the original) goes rogue and insane. Van Damme is brought out of retirement essentially to stop these guys. It was very well done with great action.
Then you have Day of Reckoning which essentially has zero to do with Regeneration and I found to be a confusing mess with all the clones. Not to mention the pointless nudity, and the near seizure type scenes when Luc Deveraux appears. Dolph Lundgren at least had some relevence in Regeneration but has nearly zero purpose in DOR. He has a couple tiny parts where he is the second In command of this cult type and then dies at the hands of Scott Adkins lol.
The one saving grace I will say the movie has, is some fantastic action scenes. I am a massive fan of Scott Adkins, As he always puts beautiful fight scenes together, and I have a lot of respect for him as he does pretty much all of his own stunts if not all of them. The movie was still exciting, with lots of good fight scenes and almost felt like a horror movie at times but overall it was just a bit silly to me and the storyline just seemed silly to me.

Personally it took me about three viewing of DOR to understand what John Hyams had in mind with this film, basically he created an "all villains" situation where you have to follow the events from a neutral point of view, the action is truly remarkable and the film gets better and better with each new viewing. "Regeneration" followed a solid narrative but very similar to many other war films (warzone/sending soldiers/protagonist wins) John with DOR tried to do an original production with a touch of horror.

That is a very valid point.... Maybe I need to watch it again at some point, I watched it when it first came out and now again... Although I enjoyed it much more now than I did when it first came out, I still just found it to be overall weird with a ridiculous amount of un-needed nudity with seizure type scenes lol BUT, with that said I do agree the action was phenomenal.... The fight scene in the sports store was incredible and it is a fast paced movie that is exciting.... I still didn't enjoy it near as much as Regeneration though lol. But that is what makes the world beautiful, we all have different opinions. I loved Knock Off for example, and most JCVD fans hate that movie haha.... Same with The Order.
