Looks great, but I think they give a away too many different looks of JCVD. Love his code name!

Looks good, very similar to "Jean Claude Van Johnson". Personally I'm not completely sold, it's a good project done by professionals but it lacks a bit of magic.

Yeah they are showing a lot of looks (at least 5?) i like them but i hope they didn't just show us all the looks. Looks good, very similar to "Jean Claude Van Johnson". Personally I'm not completely sold, it's a good project done by professionals but it lacks a bit of magic. I think it looks quite solid for what it is but the comedy we see in the trailer is a little hit and miss for me personally. Unrelated to the trailer but im still disappointed this is going straight to Netflix and most likely wont get a physical release.

Huge Van Damme fan, this movie looks fantastic! I agree with the above mentioned comment, not sure if the comedy looks good or not..... maybe kind of cheesy in a way but will have to wait and see once I watch the actual movie.
Van Damme pulling off his splits is always good to see (assuming that is him) looks like there will be a solid amount of action. I can't wait.

He even rocks the front splits in this one..... I don't think I have seen him do those since Time Cop (although he does a form of it in Pound of Flesh)

Same here, the comedy turns me off a bit but overall I think I'd like this movie, the best thing is JC's visible motivation in this project, he doesn't look bored in any scene, I think the use of stunt double was minimal and it's great news, JC is still the man.

I was wondering if that was actually him doing the splits at the beginning but it seems to be!!

I was wondering if that was actually him doing the splits at the beginning but it seems to be!! I think this film will have a lot of JCVD's 90's trademarks, except I think the 360 helicopter kick. A clear attempt to attract those who followed JC in his golden age, sadly this attempt failed with "Jean Claude Van Johnson" but hopefully this time we will have more luck.

Van Johnson was just a bit too silly for my likings..... This one looks perfect with a ton of action!

I think the attempt didn't fail. A lot of people I know and online came back to Van Damme because of Van Johnson and i often see people bring it up despite its cancellation from almost 4 years ago. I hope for Van Damme that this film will have the same (or even bigger) reception that Van Johnson got. And with the poster now released in combination with the trailer it's very obvious it's partly aimed towards the people who are aware of his trademarks. (talking about the poster who thought that was a good tagline...?)

(talking about the poster who thought that was a good tagline...?) You are right about the general reception from critics and those who have seen the series but I was shocked when I learned that Van Johnson didn't get the necessary views for a second season, Amazon still didn't have big productions when it came out and I was expecting that JCVJ easily reached the Top 10 of the most streamed shows there and instead it went a bit under the radar. Netflix has many productions but if "The Last Mercenary" will be a success I think it will reach at least the Top 20 if not 10, I hope there will be an English dubbed version because American audiences don't like to read subtitles. If all goes as I hope we should get the announcement of that project with Olivier Marchal soon, a new French Netflix project with Van Damme as the lead. The tagline is cool! JC no longer tries to hide aging, so there's no longer a need to expect him to look 45.

I don't think they specifically said it didn't get renewed because lack of viewership, my guess is they had to choose 1 new comedy show and ended up going for 'The Tick' (why we don't know since Amazon doesn't release any numbers) I'm sure Last Mercenary will reach top 10 and definitely in the smaller countries. Since it's an international release it will probably have an English dub what im curious about is Van Damme will provide his own dub or someone else will (probably someone else tho)

This film is having solid promotion from Netflix, it's all over the movie sites and the reception of the trailer has been positive so far.
